This week is the last week of 5th grade. School lets out on Thursday, and Summer begins. One of the things we did this week was we had field day, which was very fun. I won one second place ribbon. We also had our end-of-the-year class party. We also raised about $2,300 for Lucas. Lucas, if you can’t remember, is a student from my school that has cancer. Another thing we did this week was we had our awards ceremony. I won an academic award for math, honor roll, and presidential. One more thing we will be doing this week will be helping out 1st grade with their field day. One more thing before I conclude this post: I am going to do a top ten favorite things my class and I did this year.
#10: Haunted House
#9: Track
#8: Movies
#7: Songs
#6: Garden
#5: Basketball Game
#4: Field Day
#3: Lucas Fundraiser
#2: Tuckaleeche Caverns
#1: Awards Night
One more announcement is that I may be doing weekly blog post for 6th grade too. This last week of 5th Grade was amazing, and I will definitely miss this school and all of its teachers and students.

A wordle is a large text turned into a picture with random words from the text and makes the most common words larger than the rest. This wordle was of all of my weekly blog posts combined. As you can clearly see, “Week” is my most used word in all of my weekly blog posts. You can make your own wordle at wordle.net.

This week, my class accomplished a lot, but also had lots of fun. One thing that we did was we had our service project feild trip to KARM. KARM (Knoxville Area Rescue Ministry) is a charity organization that consists of a few donation centers, 18 thrift stores, and 3 homeless shelters. In the field trip, we went to one of the stores and sorted donations of clothing. We also got a tour of the store and one of the shelters. Another thing we did this week was we started filming our movies. My movie is called School’s Out, and it’s about 5 kids who come to school to find that the teachers are gone. We just filmed most of scene one. Another thing we did this week was we wrote our song or Lucas. Lucas is a student at my school who has cancer, and we made a song about him to raise money for his family. Another thing that happened was Hayden had a birthday. Hayden is a student in my class, and we all got doughnuts. Another thing we did was we did 3 paragraphs in our novel studies essay. Yes, we don’t get all the fun. In the essay, we compared and contrasted our history textbook and novel study book, and we got to paragraph 3. Yet another thing we did was we finished our science experiments. One expiriment we did was we had to get a slinky to walk from a desk to the floor using textbooks. Another expirement was where we measured, weighed, and raced toy cars. Our last expirement was where we raced diffrent types of marbles on difrent rules, and gathered data. Another thing we did this week was we sorted all of our math papers and got a certain ranking. The rankings were bronze, silver, and gold. The perks for gold was you got to chew gum for the rest of the year, you got to move your seat in class for the rest of the year, and you get to eat outside for the rest of the year. This is what I did this week.

I scored number one in the country on Ticket to Read! Because of this, my class and I get to have a pizza party. This is the highlight of the week, but there were still other things that happened and we did. One thing my class and I did was we pulled up radishes from our garden. We get to eat them with the pizza. A thing that happened was we only did 1/2 of TN Ready this week. The superintendent of Knox County Schools, Jim Mackantyre, said that the tests were cancelled because some schools didn’t get the paper tests. Another thing we did this week was we finally finished our movie scripts. Next week, we get to film. This is what we did/what happened this week.

We didn’t do much this week, but we did have 3 things happen. One was we finished our TN Ready practice tests. Yay. We did more to our movie. Yay. But the cool thing was that this week, I got into number one in the country on an education website called Ticket To Read. I was going to have it as a surprise, but every one else in the class already put it in their posts, so there wasn’t much point in keeping it secret. If I secure my number one spot in the country until Sunday at midnight, my class gets a pizza party. The one thing that is sure about this Ticket To Read session is that there will be a winner from my school. This is because the top 2 people in the lead are a fourth grader from my school and me. The 4th grader’s name is Amelia, and according to my teacher, she is going to do a lot of TTT over the weekend. I do have a 5000-6000 point lead, which is a lot, but I will still have to do TTT a lot to secure my win. If search Ticket To Read in an internet browser, you should come across the website. When you get on, you will see a leaderboard, and if nothing changes, I will be number one in the country. My name on TTT is Aaron, so you will know which one is me. Lets all hope I win this “Campaign.”

We did so much stuff this week compared to other weeks that I would be surprised if I wrote this post in under 20 minutes. We started production on our movies this week, and we mainly focused on scene one. Before you think, “You get to make a movie? That is so unfair,” we are actually doing it for a reason other than fun. Our teacher, Mr. Haney, said that we could either make a movie for our end-of-the-year grade or we could do a giant textbook full of worksheets. No one chose the worksheets, obviously, so now we are making a movie for our final grade. Trust me, it is harder than it sounds. We also did yet another TN Ready practice test, but there was a good thing that came out of it. On the test I did last week, I got 8 questions wrong. In comparison, I only missed two questions this week. Further more, we had a shortened TN Ready test for our weekly test this week, and I didn’t miss a single question. The TN Ready testing in two weeks, and I think I’m ready. (Get it? Not funny? What do mean? *sigh* I give up on making good jokes on the internet). Another thing we did this week was we made a commercial that was aired on my school’s morning news on Thursday that was for a kid named Lucas, who was diagnosed with a very rare type of cancer. The commercial’s purpose was to make sure that everyone knew about Lucas’s unfinished story of how he would struggle in a race against cancer, and so that people would donate. Moving on to a more happy note, our class gets a pizza party today because we found out that today was the birthday of two students in my class, Sara logan and Andrew. We did so much this week, that I am surprised I finished this post in under 20 minutes.
To raise money for Lucas, the Rocky Hill PTO held an event where you could buy shaved ice for $2, and the money would go to Lucas’s family.

This is the RHES track media team, I am the boy on the right.
This week was very exciting, and very fun and awesome. This is because this week was our track meet, and I got to go this year as a media specialist. What the media team did, was we ran around the track, recording our school running, long jumping, and much more. Afterwards, all the footage was put into one giant track montage, which was aired on the morning news on Friday morning. Another great thing that happened was one of the 5th graders at my school didn’t only win the dogwood arts competition, but also got in first place for all of 5th grade! One more thing that happened was we finished our final songs, which was a very exciting experience to go through. This is just what we did this week, as there are 6 more weeks to come until summer vacation.
